wow, everybody makes it sound like walmart bikes can single-handedly ruin biking for a person for life.

have you forgotten what it's like to be 11-14? you don't want a tank of a bike, or someone's old bike from a bike want something new and shiny with lots of bright colors. enter the walmart bikes...lots of shininess, lots of bright colors; absolutely perfect for a tween. besides, at that age, there's no guarantee that they'll stick with something for long. if you've got the extra money to drop $400 on something that your kid might not be using in a year, that's great, and i wish i had that kind of extra dough floating around.

plus, i was at target just the other day and i saw a bike there outfitted with the exact same component line as entry-level specialized bikes.
